Add in Some Cardio, Strengthen the Core, and Build Explosive Legs

Ahhh yes... cardio. Do I like cardio... no. Do I do as much cardio as I should? Also. no.

Cardio used to be touted as the end all be all for fat loss. It's not. Truthfully, you don't even need to do cardio for fat loss. Fat loss comes from a caloric deficit.

As much as I hate to admit it, however, cardio is necessary for overall health and it DOES aid in fat loss by helping us achieve a caloric deficit.

The Sprinter’s Lunge is a fun exercise to add to leg day in order to mix up your leg workouts and sneak in a little bit of extra cardio.

Benefits of the Sprinter’s Lunge:

  1. Unilaterally trains the legs to avoid muscular imbalances

  2. Improves coordination and balance

  3. Builds explosive power in the legs

  4. Increases cardiovascular ability

  5. Strengthens the core

Start Position:

End Position:

Try 3-4 Sets of 10 reps per side. This would be a great exercise to superset with Russian Kettlebell Swings or Single Leg RDLs!
